The Welsh Books Council's children's department works to encourage children to read.

Book clubs

The Welsh Books Council (WBC) have two book clubs for children and young people: one for primary children and one for young people in secondary schools. These book clubs are run through schools and offer schools 10% discount on each order.

Book competitions for primary schools

The children's department organises book competitions in primary schools in both Welsh and English. The aim of the competitions is to encourage children to read and to promote discussion and presentation skills. 

08 clubs

Established during the 2008 Year of Reading, these clubs promote reading amongst children, especially boys. The scheme has its own website.
