City region boards have been established in South East Wales and Swansea Bay.

Their memberships are designed to reflect the need to ensure local input and expertise from:

  • local authorities
  • the private sector
  • the education sector

The main role of the boards is to:

  • provide leadership, vision and strategic direction for the city region
  • prioritise projects which demonstrate the potential to change the economy across the region
  • gain wider local input, collaboration and support as part of a well planned process of participation

The boards are building upon the work of the City Regions Task and Finish Group report which was published in July 2012 and recommended establishing city regions in South-East Wales and Swansea Bay.
