An advisory group was set up to consider and report on the potential role of 'City Regions' in future economic development in Wales.

A Task and Finish group was set up by the Minister for Economy, Science and Transport. They held regular meetings where Members considered a range of economic and statistical evidence and data as well as presentations on international examples of city regions.

The advisory group chaired by Dr Elizabeth Haywood was set up November 2011. It was tasked to consider and report on the potential role of ‘City Regions’ in future economic development and prosperity in Wales.

The group also considered evidence from businesses, academics, local government, citizens and other interested parties.
