The National Science Academy (NSA) was established during 2010.

The National Science Academy (NSA) currently resides within the Department for Economy, Science and Transport; operating under the strategic direction of the Chief Scientific Adviser for Wales, Professor Julie Williams.

The NSA's primary role is to help promote, communicate, and better co-ordinate science technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) enrichment (“Informal Science Learning”) outreach activities across Wales at all levels.

The NSA awards grant funding to deliver STEM enrichment projects.
