Review of parenting support for Flying Start

Bookmark and Share
  • Release date: 30 May 2013
The aim of this research was to refresh the evidence base on informal and formal parenting support, review the current parenting entitlement in Flying Start and support the future development of the programme.

The study was based around a rapid evidence assessment, updating previous work in this area. In addition, telephone consultations were undertaken with Flying Start staff and key stakeholders. The review focused on universal and targeted/specialist programmes of support, which were further divided into three thematic areas: perinatal support and support in the early years; early intervention approaches to supporting vulnerable parents; and positive parenting.

Findings from the work will be used to inform the future direction of guidance on parenting support within the Flying Start programme.
