A quarterly report, published by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), presenting information about certificates on the energy efficiency of domestic and non-domestic buildings in England and Wales that have been constructed, sold, or let since 2008, and of larger public authority buildings recorded since 2008.

The information covers the number of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) recorded on the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPB) Registers. This includes both EPCs for domestic and non-domestic properties in England and Wales and Display Energy Certificates (DECs) for buildings occupied by public authorities in England and Wales. Statistics on EPCs and DECs are based on Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) which is the methodology used by Government to assess and compare the energy and environmental performance of dwellings.

Some of the information shown in this release on the energy efficiency of new dwellings was previously published quarterly as a subsection of DCLG’s Code for Sustainable Homes statistics series.

Separate data for Wales is available in tables published alongside the release.

These are experimental official statistics and are still subject to evaluation and testing.
