Nearly 3,000 people attend M4 exhibitions

This press release was published under the 2011 - 2016 Welsh government

Nearly 3,000 people attended the recent public exhibitions about the Welsh Government’s plans for the M4 Corridor around Newport and the project website recorded more than 7,400 hits during that time.

An evaluation report on the exhibitions has been published by the Welsh Government looking at attendance levels, the quality and effectiveness of the information provided and issues and questions raised by those attending.

The information will now be used in the continued design stages of the project and to deliver publication of draft Statutory Orders and an Environment Statement in spring 2016.

During September, five two day exhibitions were held between Magor and Castleton and four one day pop-up exhibitions in shopping areas across South Wales. The exhibition information was also posted on-line and included an animated video which explained the background and progress of the project and a simulated fly-through to show how the new road and feature bridge would look.

Transport Minister Edwina Hart said:

‘I am pleased to see so many people took the opportunity to gain an insight into the development of this very important project. The feedback we received at these events will now be used in the next stages of design.”
