Representatives from across the sector met to consider the context for future legislation and change in with regards to Wales’ historic environment.
The workshops are hosted by Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service, and the event opened by Housing, Regeneration and Heritage Minister Huw Lewis.
Huw Lewis said:
“Last week I announced my vision for the historic environment in Wales. Among my priorities is the introduction of a battlefields register, the conservation of sites in State care and encouraging a broader range of people to visit our historic assets. But the process doesn’t stop there.
“Experts and those with an interest in our historic environment have an important contribution to make. Many work in the field and have first hand knowledge and experience of what works and what measures are needed to improve.
“Including them early in the process will help ensure the Bill develops along the right track from these initial stages right through until its introduction later in this Assembly term.”
The Heritage Bill is planned for introduction in 2014-2015.
