Capita Symonds strengthens its presence in Wales with opening of new HQ offices

The Welsh Government’s commitment to support the growth of the construction sector in Wales was emphasised by Business Minister Edwina Hart today when she officially opened the new Welsh HQ for Capita Symonds.

Addressing key figures from the Welsh construction industry the Minister welcomed the investment by Capita Symonds in a new multi- disciplinary hub in St Mellons, Cardiff, that will not only provide services to Wales but to the rest of the UK.

Capita Symonds, Wales’ largest multidisciplinary property and infrastructure consultancy, is a major division of Capita plc, a FTSE 100 member and the UK’s leading provider of integrated professional support service solutions.

Opening their new headquarters the Minister said: 

“It is encouraging to see a company such as Capita Symonds strengthening its presence and commitment to Wales. Capita Symonds has a long history in Wales and over the years has played an integral part in the delivery of many iconic projects such as the Wales Millennium Centre.

“The services it provides are vital in assisting the recovery and growth of the construction sector – a priority sector of the Welsh economy, creating jobs and wealth.

“The Welsh Government is committed to doing all it can to assist and support the sector in Wales and the Construction Sector Advisory Panel and our sector team are developing and delivering short and long term strategies to grow the sector.

“We have announced a number of measures to stimulate demand including more investment in capital project spend for schools, roads and other vital infrastructure projects across Wales.”

“The development of the Wales Infrastructure Investment Plan represents the Government’s intention to provide industry with a clear pipeline of projects to be delivered.”

Capita Symonds has three Welsh offices employing over 300 staff, 150 of which are based in the new Cardiff office.

The company works across a variety of sectors including central government, local government, commercial, defence, education, environment, energy, healthcare, industrial, justice, residential, technology and transport.

Capita Symonds has played a vital role in some of Wales’ largest and most iconic infrastructure, regeneration and building projects ranging from the design of the Wales Millennium Centre to the project management and delivery of Bluestone Leisure Village and the award-winning redevelopment of the M4 Coldra roundabout.
