The Welsh Government is providing overseas trade support to help companies attend the Innovation in Entertainment event at Sony Studios, Los Angeles, on September 27th which is organised by the Irish Technology Leadership Group.
Innovation in Entertainment is a conference and networking event with a focus on the latest developments in entertainment and media technology.
It attracts high-profile figures from film, television, digital effects, animation, media, mobile, gaming, venture capital and technology industries with executives representing some of the world’s leading entertainment companies including HBO, Warner Brothers, Sony and DreamWorks
Business Minister Edwina Hart said:
"This provides a great opportunity for innovative businesses in the Welsh creative industry sector to promote their services to some highly influential people in Hollywood.
“I welcome the support of the Global Academy and the Irish Technology Leadership Group and am pleased to provide funding support to enable Welsh businesses to take up this opportunity.”
University of Wales Vice-Chancellor Prof Medwin Hughes said:
“The University of Wales Global Academy is pleased to facilitate this visit and I am delighted it is being supported by the Welsh Government.
“I hope Welsh businesses will be able to maximise the opportunities from attending Innovation in Entertainment and benefit from the extensive business network that has been established. The visit shows the importance of collaborative working to support Welsh businesses trade internationally with the potential to benefit the wider Welsh economy."
Ron Jones, who chairs the Welsh Government Creative Industries Sector Panel and is Chairman of Tinopolis - one of the UK's largest television production companies - is accompanying Welsh businesses on the visit which is being facilitated by the University of Wales Global Academy.
The Academy has a strong relationship with the Irish Technology Leadership Group (ITLG), which has worked with over 200 companies developing links with Silicon Valley companies and investors.
It facilitates business opportunities for these companies through its network of over 1,500 senior executives and is extending these opportunities and its shared office facilities to the visiting Welsh companies.

“For the ITLC network and their events programme to now be open to Welsh companies creates great opportunities for Wales to do business with West Coast USA - in particular Silicon Valley and Hollywood - the global hubs of innovation in the creative industries and ICT technology sectors.
“I would urge all Welsh companies within these two vital economic sectors to take up this amazing opportunity and join the trade mission.”
Welsh businesses will be able to benefit from the ITLG network and develop business opportunities in both San Jose and Los Angeles. Activities are planned between Monday 24th September and Thursday 27th September.
Welsh companies can apply for 50% assistance for flights, accommodation and entry to the Innovation in Entertainment event through the Welsh Government’s Overseas Business Development Fund.
