Professor Hugh Pennington - Chairman
Hugh Pennington held the Chair of Bacteriology at Aberdeen University from 1979 to 2003. His three-term of office as President of the Society of General Microbiology concluded in autumn 2006. He has published many research papers on viruses and bacteria that cause disease in humans and animals. In 1996-97, he chaired an Expert Group that investigated the E.coli 0157 outbreak in central Scotland and made recommendations to the Secretary of State for Scotland. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
