Food Hygiene Rating (Wales) Regulations 2013

The consultation document asks for comments on regulations which set out the detail of the statutory Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.
Start of consultation: 27/03/2013
End of consultation: 21/06/2013

The regulations are to be made under the Food Hygiene Rating (Wales) Act 2013  which received Royal Assent on 4 March 2013.

They provide detail of how the food hygiene rating scheme will operate in Wales. For example, this includes the appearance of the food hygiene rating sticker, and where the sticker must be displayed at different types of food businesses.

Rating food businesses

The Act will require food authorities to rate food businesses within their area. It will require businesses to display their rating where it can be easily seen by customers.

This will help ensure consumers have access to easy to understand information on the hygiene standards of food businesses.  This will help them to make informed choices about where they decide to buy food.

Most of the regulations will come into force when the Act commences in November 2013. Some will come into force at a later date.
