Written Statement - Publication of second interim report of evaluation of Integrated Family Support Services (IFSS)

Gwenda Thomas, Deputy Minister for Social Services

This week we published the second interim evaluation report on Integrated Family Support Services (IFSS) which I attach for your information. This follows the first interim report published in September last year which is available online.

The evaluation specifically draws on information from the three Phase I pioneer areas of Wrexham, Newport and the Rhondda Cynon Taf/Merthyr Tydfil consortium. Whilst we are continuing to roll-out the service across, I am pleased to see that the report highlights the positive outcomes for the families participating in the programme, as well as the contribution IFSS is making in shaping integrated public services for vulnerable children and families in Wales.

The learning and conclusions from the evaluation is valuable to all IFSS areas in further developing this pioneering service which is a key priority in our Programme for Government and my vision for a Sustainable Social Services for Wales. I am therefore writing to all IFSS Boards to share the report and ensure they fully consider the findings of the report.  The final evaluation report is due to be published later this year.
